Off-Site Backup

Whether you are a business or home user, a good backup strategy is critical.  Business users can’t afford to lose critical client and operational data.   Home users would be sick to know that all of their digital family photos have been lost.

A simple strategy to follow is what we call the 3-2-1 backup rule:

  • There should be 3 copies of data
  • On 2 different media
  • With 1 copy being off-site

For more info on the 3-2-1 backup rule, see this link on the US Chamber of Commerce web site:   What is the 3-2-1 Backup Rule?

A critical part of this backup strategy is the off-site copy.  An off-site copy of your data can be stored at a second site, the cloud, bank vault or other secure 2nd location.  This off-site copy protects against loss when your primary location is compromised.  For example, if you backup your office computer to an on-site backup drive, and the building burns: both the original and backup copy are lost.  Another scenario might be theft where both the original computer and backup copy are stolen.

To prevent such loss, we can design a cost-effective, customized, and robust 3-2-1 backup solution for your business, or just your home computer.
